Health and Vaccinations

Only cats that have a current vaccination certificate against Feline Infectious Enteritis and upper respiratory infections (Cat Flu) can be accepted for boarding. Owners must produce an up-to-date inoculation certificate on arrival. Vaccination against Feline Leukemia is optional. Should the annual booster be due, it should be given at least 10 days before boarding.

Details of flea treatment and worming will be asked for on arrival, please ensure they are up to date.

No cat suffering from, or suspected to be suffering from, any infectious disease can be accepted. All cats will be examined on arrival, but the proprietor reserves the right to refuse admission to any cat showing signs of ill health pending advice from a Veterinary Surgeon.

Un-neutered male cats over the age of seven months, will not be accepted for boarding as they could present an infection hazard.

Diet

Diets can be tailored to our guest’s individual needs. We aim to ensure your cat is happy and healthy during their stay and would like them to enjoy mealtimes as they would at home.

We will check your cat’s individual likes and dislikes upon arrival and will endeavour to keep their feeding routine as close to those followed at home as is possible. We feed our guests twice a day and have a variety of foods and brands available. We are also happy to provide freshly prepared cooked meals at an additional cost.

For specific requirements please discuss these at the time of booking including additional meals.

Prescription diets will need to be provided by you. It will be useful if you label with clear instructions of feed quantity and frequency.

Medication

If your cat is taking medication this can be continued during their stay. We will ask you for details of the medication, what it is for, times it should be administered any possible side effects etc. Please label with clear instructions.

We are able to administer injections for medications prescribed by your vet. Again please label with clear instructions.

Bedding

Each chalet has a moulded bed with a fleece ‘vetbed’ liner plus additional cat duvet and shelf bedding. Beds and bedding are checked daily and replaced if soiled. All beds are hot washed and disinfected. If you feel your cat might benefit from having a familiar piece of bedding or his own toys feel free to bring these with you.

Exercise and toys

The cattery benefits from having large exercise areas accessible from the cat chalets. Cats enjoy the extra stimulation provided by access to this area which is stocked with toys and climbing opportunities.

You will be asked upon arrival if you would like your cat to have access to these areas. We allow access to only one cat at a time and it is very secure. Exercise areas and toys are disinfected daily.

We supply a variety of toys for your cat to play with both in their chalet and in the exercise area. We try to play with our guests regularly throughout the day to enable them a good variety of stimulation, sleep, grooming and meals

Grooming

Upon arrival, you will be asked if your cat would enjoy some gentle grooming. We find this is a good way for your cat to bond with us and helps to keep your cat in good condition for his/her return home. It is another opportunity to keep your cat stimulated during their stay.

Each cat will be given his or her personal grooming brushes which will be disinfected and cleaned between cats. If you would rather bring your cats own brushes please feel free to do so.

Elderly cats

We are very happy to board your elderly cat, but we ask you to advise any particular health issues he or she may suffer from. We realise older cats may feel the cold more so we will provide extra bedding and heat. If your cat isn’t as agile as he/she used to be we will ensure we provide steps to enable your cat to access the shelves.

Kittens

Young kittens and those visiting a cattery for the first time are likely to feel anguish as it can be a very daunting experience. Our aim is to let cats have time to settle and recover from the car journey and then to gradually introduce ourselves. Your cat should soon feel relaxed. We try to play with and handle all our guests as much as possible throughout the day. We do ensure kittens are given some extra fun to make their first cattery stay happy and to ensure future visits are nothing to be scared of.
